In the spring of 2012 my in-laws told me about an article they had read about a girl named Katie Davis. After graduating from high school in TN, Katie gave up the life she knew and moved across the world to Uganda. She gave up the comforts of her life to go and care of the oppressed. After reading the short article about Katie I immediately went searching for her book ,Kisses for Katie. I wanted to learn more about this girl and the things she was doing.
At the age of nineteen Katie began caring for 13 orphaned Ugandan children, all of whom is is currently in the process of adopting. I was blown away by the self sacrifice that Katie has displayed and just in awe that someone so young would gladly take on this huge resposibility. Oh and did I mention that in addition to caring for 13 children she also started a ministry that educates and feeds several hundred children a day?
This book definitely left me inspired to do something, to make a difference in the life of someone else.
Fast forward almost six months and I kept seeing a company called Noonday pop up on several blogs. I would think to myself, ” Wow that Noonday necklace they are giving away is beautiful. I would love to wear that.” In October I again read something about Noonday on a blog and actually took the time to click over to their site. After looking at the gorgeous jewelry I quickly moved on to reading about the founder Jessica and how she started the company as a way to fund raise for their adoption. I was hooked from that point and with tears in my eyes started reading about all of the artisans that hand make each and every product that the Noonday collection is made up of. I contacted Noonday to host a trunk show and after talking with a local Noonday Ambassador for several minutes on the phone I felt this tugging in my heart to go one step further. After talking and praying about this with my husband I decided to apply to be an Ambassador for Noonday.
I feel so blessed to be a part of such a wonderful company! Through Noonday I can share my love of fashion and accessories and at the same time I can speak on behalf of the oppressed. By shopping with Noonday you get the opportunity to do the same! With every purchase of a beautiful handcrafted item you are empowering women, helping to provide care for orphans, and, giving families a sustainable source of income.
My husband and I are currently in the process of adopting a little girl from Ethiopia. I’m excited about raising funds for our adoption through my Noonday Collection business. By hosting a trunk show you can get fabulous Noonday products or fundraise for your adoption. Contact me for more details. I look forward to sharing the story of Noonday with you very soon!
When you satisfy the needs of the oppressed, your night will become like the Noonday.
