give thanks

Thursday was our first thanksgiving since we’ve been home. We had plans to spend the day with family but then had a last minute change of plans when my MIL started feeling under the weather. We ended up hosting thanksgiving at our house instead. The day looked totally different than I had thought it would but that was ok. I am learning it’s better if I don’t have any pre-conceived expectations about holidays. They tend to always turn out better than I could have orchestrated

This year some of our new friends joined us around our dinner table us as well as my FIL. We’re used to spending thanksgiving with friends since that is what we did several times while we were in the Navy. It felt like a normal thanksgiving to us!

The boys loved getting to play with their friends for several hours! After dinner the they all put on costumes and went out to play in the yard. I’m not sure what Graham is supposed to be??? If you are ever wondering what a normal day looks like for the boys, well here it is. Costumes! And usually at some point they try to dig up some part of our yard!!

It’s hard to believe that we are coming upon our one year anniversary of being back home. It’s been a hard year in a lot of ways but a good year too. I’m so grateful for a lot of things….my boys(all three of them!), our church family, getting to live near our family, so many wonderful friends (both near and far), an amazing school for Noah, a new house, a new job for Ben and my new Noonday business.

Taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the one who takes refuge in him. Psalm 34:8

**Thanks Erin for the pictures from our day!
